Description

Ancient Kitab talisman, very old Tuareg pendant. It’s called Kitab,
after the Arabic word for book; the Holy Quran. This religious Tuareg
amulet has two attached parts, and these are to be opened up and closed like a book.
This Kitab amulet is made of dark brown leather, silver, small mirror,
and aluminium. It’s being hold together with metal wire, probably the
link that should keep the two parts together after opening it is missing.
It has rings to attach it to a string.

Size 50×80 mm.

From approximately the beginning of the previous century, found in
Agadez, Niger. Handmade by the Tuareg people, visibly very old and worn.
